Seed Global Health and its founder had received seed money for a partnership with the U.S. Peace Corps to lead an initiative to create a Peace Corps in three regions in Africa for Doctors, Nurses and Midwives.

As a medical doctor, the CEO had extensive healthcare experience, but lacked the relevant nonprofit management background and needed help to properly design this startup endeavor.

2-Year Engagement

NPL was engaged to: 1) create the legal and management structure for the organization as a public trust; 2) build a board capable of investing dollars; and 3) design the business plan.

We helped train the board and internal team on major-gift fundraising and guided them on Gift Acceptance Policies and nuances related to the complexity of their public/private partnership model.

“We are indebted to NPL for the remarkable experience and skills you provided in guiding us through our first two years. We would not be in our current position without your early partnership and investment in Seed Global Health. NPL was essential to our board development, cultivation, and management in our first two years. Our original board was a small group of committed individuals formed through personal relationships. With their counsel, we appreciated the importance of a balanced, well-sized board. You helped us understand the important balance of "wisdom," "wealth" and "work." As the board grew, the dynamic of the board naturally shifted which caused some of the original board members to be territorial and edgy. You played a central and personal role in helping bring the board together, increase productivity and improve relationships.”
